Our Beloved Prophet

Last night Brett and I received a call from Brett's brother, Tanner, telling us that President Gordon B. Hinckley had died. It's such sad news. President Hinckley was 97 years old and had been our beloved prophet since March 12, 1995. President Hinckley was the 15th president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was such a wonderful man who served God and his people with unbelievable service and dedication. He had such a fun, sweet personality and was such a great example of how one should live their life. I know that he has returned to live with our Lord and Saviour and his sweet wife and I will forever be grateful for his selflessness and love for the Saviour's gospel.

No Wonder My Parents Never Went Out...

Okay, I have a question to ask. How much do you pay for a babysitter? I have had such varying answers that I don't know how much to pay. The other night Brett and I were out with several other couples and the subject of babysitters came up. When I told how much I paid, I got an "Oh I would never pay that much". Okay, so it's nice to be a really good payer, but if I knew the going rate was less maybe we would consider going out more often. Don't you just love to pay someone to watch t.v. and eat your food? Bradock goes to sleep by 7pm and you don't hear a sound out of him until 7am the next morning, so usually Bradock never even knows he had a sitter. Not that I'm complaining because I would pretty much pay whatever to enjoy a night out. So, for one child how much would you pay an hour?

Happy New Year!

HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYONE! I cannot believe we are already into 2008. What an unbelievable year 2007 was. I don't honestly think that it could possibly be topped. As I reflected over the last year our family has received so much. I really can't ask for much more, except for Brett to hurry up and be done with school.

Well, we started our pre-new year off right by getting off work early and going to the zoo. Kiley's boys love seeing all the animals and Bradock just loves being with his cousins. That night we rang the new year in with several of our neighbors. We had a delicious potluck dinner and then played games. I am not a huge game person, but I really like this new game my mother-in-law introduced, which we call "Speed Scrabble". It's really fun. On New Year's the Flaherty's insisted that all the grandkids go to the movies to see Alvin and the Chipmunks. I am usually anti babies at a movie theatre, but I thought "what the heck". Bradock was alseep when we arrived and slept through a little bit of the movie, but once he woke up he absolutely loved watching the big screen. Alvin and the Chipmunks is actually a really cute, family movie and I think all the fun music keeps kids' attention. So, Bradock started 2008 by seeing his first movie at the theatre.

The pics above are of Bradock and our little cheweenie (weiner dog and chihuaua mix), Maggie. Over Thanksgiving break, Brett and many helping hands re-did our backyard with grass. We love it. Since Maggie is an outside dog, Bradock hasn't had much contact with her (other than staring at her outside the glass door). Friday evening was pretty nice outside, so Bradock got to play on the new grass with his little dog. He had so much fun watching her run around him. I just can't wait until she is "his" dog and he will be responsible for taking care of her:)
