About a month ago my really good friend, Meegan, told me that her sister, Camryn, had very spontaneously decided to open a clothing boutique in Prescott. What was really crazy about this whole idea is that her sister actually lives in Snowflake and will be commuting each week to her boutique, not to mention that she is due with her second little girl at the end of January. I thought Camryn was nuts, but super gutsy. Owning a boutique has been a dream of mine for a really long time and so I was in awe of her courage to just do it. Camryn found the perfect location to rent out, but she wouldn't be able to move into the space until Dec 1st and her plan was to have her grand opening on Dec 3rd...crazy I know! She even decided to put the pressure on even more by sending out exclusive invitations for a pre-party Thursday evening, the night before the big day. That pretty much gave her less than 3 days to completely decorate, build and stock her store. Meegan asked if I would like to go with her up to Prescott to help out and to assist her with the food she was going to prepare and serve at the pre-party.
Meegan and I spend most of Wednesday night doing food prep and headed up to Prescott on Thurs morning. When we arrived that morning at the shop we were shocked to see that it didn't look anywhere near ready. We seriously thought that Camryn was way over her head and there was no way she would be ready to open her doors at 7pm when the party was supposed to start. Meegan and I ended up preparing food most of the day: 3 types of cupcakes, 3 types of cookies, caramel popcorn, chocolate covered pretzels, spinach-sundried tomato-artichoke cheese dip, homemade breadsticks, chicken stuffed phyllo, chicken pesto baguettes and a yummy cranberry punch. We were able to get back to the shop and help with some set-up, but it really came down to the wire. Shockingly, the boutique turned out so awesome, the party was a hit and everyone loved all the clothes, accessories and handbags. It was unbelievable and such an amazing thing to witness.
