The other day I got a text from my sister and a call from my mom telling me that my cousin, Donna, had died. Apparently it was drug induced and they think her heart finally just gave out. As sad as it was to hear the news it was even sadder to think that it didn't come as a surprise. Donna had been addicted to drugs for as long as I can remember and it seemed fewer times than not that she was actually clean. When she did clean up and try to get her life back together she was one of the most charismatic, friendly, fireball of a girl. She was so talented in so many ways and it was such a shame that she allowed addictions to control her life. In fact, I think Brett and I had seen her more recently and frequently than anyone because she had been living her in Payson. Brett did some dental work for her a few months back and I had seen her at a few different places here in town. She had shaved her head because of pulling her hair out while on drugs and looked like a skeleton walking. It's crazy what drugs does to a person. She was, once again, trying to get clean and get her life in order. I was able to go to her viewing and funeral and it was just so sad to know that she was only 39 and had so much potential to have such a happy, good life. I found this picture of her, Brandon and I all dressed up for Halloween. I was probably around 2 years old or so in this pic, but I'm glad I have this picture of us. It is a reminder of better days and memories.
