A Year Ago Today...

The Christmas Season allows all of us to reflect on the miraculous birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. For me, it is also a time to look at my own life and ponder the many modern day miracles I have witnessed and been blessed with. This time of year brings an even more special meaning because it was a year ago today that Brett and I found out we were finally going to be parents. We were up in Pinetop hanging out with my parents enjoying the snow and anxiously awaiting to hear from my brother, Justin, who is serving a mission in Bolivia. My dad had come home from making the rounds at the hospital and when he walked in he came over to me and told me that he had just spoken to Bradock's birth mother. She had told him that she didn't want to give her baby to anyone other than Brett and I. My heart dropped and I couldn't believe what I was hearing. My Heavenly Father had finally answered my prayers. My dad had mentioned to us a little while prior that he had a patient that was looking to give her baby up for adoption. My dad had a strong impression that he should mention Brett and I to her and so he did. He didn't want to get our hopes up, but he also knew he needed to tell us. We obviously weren't sure what she might decide, but when my dad had given us the exciting news that day there was nothing that could make this Christmas more special. We met Bradock's birth parents the night before Christmas Eve and from that moment I knew Bradock was meant to be in our family. In fact, his birth mother even said that this baby was ours and that she was just carrying him for us. I can't believe it has been a year since that day, but what a wonderful year it has been. For the past few weeks, anytime I hear Christmas songs, especially "Mary's Lullaby" or "Mary Did You Know" my heart is full of gratitude to my Heavenly Father for sending me my own miracle baby. Bradock is truly an angel and has blessed our lives beyond words. I hope we can all take this time to think about the miracles in each of our lives and thank our Heavenly Father for his love and kindness.
