What a Weekend

Well, our Easter weekend didn't quite start out so good. Brett had knee surgery to replace his left ACL on Thursday (yes this is his 3rd knee surgery; right ACL, left miniscus and now left ACL...darn that crazy wakeboarding). He was told his surgery was scheduled for 8am, so I dropped him off at the hospital at 7:30, so I could get Mr. B off to preschool and go teach my class at 9. When I got out of my class I had a text from Brett saying that his surgery wasn't until 12p, so his buddies were picking him up, since he had a few hours to kill. So around noon I dropped Brett back off at the hospital and was told to expect him to be in recovery between 3 and 4p and they would call me when he was ready for pickup. Well, it wasn't until almost six that he was finally able to leave the hospital...poor guy was so knocked up on drugs and was extremely nauseous, but I got him home and into his new bed...our couch downstairs. He had a horrible night of throwing up and was in a ton of pain, but I am glad to say the worst is over...I think. Thankfully, Easter Sunday he was feeling much better and was able to move around a little and started to actually eat some food. It's been a challenge trying to keep the kids from jumping on him and wanting to do their usual wrestling. Mr. B has been the biggest help to his dad. He gets and puts away things for him and even helps him get dressed.

Besides the surgery our Easter really was a fun one. Of course the Easter Bunny paid us a visit and even "egged" our house. The kids got a few goodies in their baskets and were hyped up on candy before breakfast was even served. We decided to make it easy for Brett and just stay around our house that day, so we ended up celebrating Easter with the Crocketts, my brother and my mom. We painted eggs, had dinner and had an easter egg hunt. It was a perfect day! During the hunt Raylee found a couple eggs and brought them over to me and said she wanted to eat them. Now Raylee is definitely an egg lover, but that's usually scrambled eggs in the morning. I do not like hard-boiled eggs...hate the smell, texture, look, everything...so I have never in my life ever even made a hard-boiled egg. Well, my little Raylee girl could not get enough of them. She downed 3 or 4 one right after another. It was truely the most disgusting and hilarious thing I have ever witnessed. Looks like I'm going to have to get over my disgust of those things and start making them for Ray.
