A Good Night

I just had to post my thoughts tonight because it's these kind of moments you just don't want to forget. After a yummy dinner of fish-n-chips (made from the delicious Halibut Brett caught in Alaska) we decided to go swimming for FHE. After being in the pool awhile we started to see lightening streaking across the sky and decided it was time to get out and get the kids into bed. After singing some songs, reading a few stories and saying prayers we got the kids all snuggled in.

That's exactly when the storm started to roll in and my sweet little boy got scared to death. Bradock started crying and screaming, so I went in his room to lay and cuddle with him. He instantly stopped crying as soon as I layed down with him. I told him that what he was hearing was called thunder and although it sounds really really scary, it would not hurt him. I told him that when we see and hear thunder and lightening it means the rain is coming. Sure enough just seconds after I said that the rain started to pour and although it was pounding right outside his walls, he just looked at me and smiled. He began to shut his eyes and would have them closed awhile and then open them, look at me and smile. It was the kind of smile that said "I know I'm safe because you are with me."

I want my kids to know that I will always try to protect them, but sometimes life just brings scary things. Someday I won't be able to cuddle and hold them, but I want them to know that they will not be alone. Their Heavenly Father loves them very much and if they build a good relationship with him, then no matter what kind of storms life will bring, they will be able to get through it with a smile. Bradock and Raylee, I love you with all my heart!! XOXO-Mom

That is so sweet! I love reading posts like this and I think every mom does! I had a simliar experience with Ellah last night too during the storm and bedtime. I love all that snuggling and innocence and I often wish I could freeze Ellah in time right now...
