My Birthday and a Big Slice of Finger

If you were to ask me my favorite holiday I would definitely say "My Birthday!". First of all, it's the perfect time of year (I love Spring in AZ). I love that winter is gone, the weather is warm, all the bright new colors and I love that I have one day that is completely and totally mine to celebrate. This year I turned 29...yup last time to live it up in my twenties...which may sound funny, but I am graciously ready to say goodbye to them. Ever since I was younger I always dreamed of my thirties being the "prime" years of my life. I hope that dream comes true because I sure am counting on it. I just know many great and life-changing things are going to happen for me and my family in my thirties and I can't wait to see what they are. However, turning 29 did not get overlooked and I had some great family and friends who made it a wonderful birthday. On my birthday morning, on the way home from the gym, I swung by Krispy Kremes (gym then doughnuts...great combination) for my free doughnuts. The kids were so excited and happy I was having a birthday so they could eat some doughnuts (I can still say I have never eaten a Krispy Kreme before...doughnuts are not my vice). When I got home the kids came running downstairs with balloons (Buzz Lightyear balloon from Mr. B and a Tinkerbell balloon from Ray) and a card...whoo hoo...iTunes gift card! Most of my birthday presents were spent in New York...thanks Brett, Mom, Terri, Kiley, and Mindi for the bday cash that I quickly spent there...I love all my new stuff.

For lunch we went to Joe's Farm Grill for free lunch and it was so fun to eat outside, let the kids play and get dirty and I got to see my awesome family and friends. Thanks for all the great bday gifts.

That night Brett and I and Dave and Rachel went to Benihana's (again free dinner for me...yipeee). We had a blast and ate some dang good food.

I just knew all my birthday luck was set aside for that one day because the next day the kids and I had just gotten back from our carousel ride and picnic at the mall and I was about to lay them down for their naps. I decided I would send them upstairs to get in their beds while I quickly threw a pot of chili in the crockpot. I was in the process of opening up some cans of beans and taking off the lid when bam I felt this searing pain in my finger and looked to see that I had seriously sliced my finger...no big deal...I'll wash it and cover it. Well, covering it wasn't exactly easy cuz man did that sucker bleed. I went through more paper towels than I can count. I ran over to my neighbor, Meegan's, house to see if she could keep an eye on the kids while I ran to Urgent Care to get some stitches, but she wasn't home. I called Brett...no answer. My mom was at a baseball game with her friend, my sister wasn't answering her phone, Grandma and Grandpa K. weren't answering, but thankfully my mother-in-law Terri came to the rescue. She watched the kids while I had to get four stitches and a Tetanus shot at Urgent Care...what a day...and such a stupid way to cut yourself. Raylee loves that I get to wear her Dora bandaids on my finger now.
