Flaherty Farm

Last weekend I headed down to the valley to get some things done and have a little "me" time, so Brett had the kids Friday and Saturday. Chance decided to join in on the father-kid bonding time, so him and McKai came up to Payson to hang out. Well, little did I know that going out of town for literally one day meant coming home to a farm. Brett has been dying to get some horses, while I have been less than enthused about the idea. I guess when you want something you just do it...and that's exactly what he did. I came out of an appt on Friday to find a text from Brett with pics of our new pet horse, Magic. Don't get me wrong they are beautiful animals...just like elk and deer... and should be seen and observed from a distance:) I am terrified of these huge animals and have major anxiety when I am even remotely close to them. Now that I have owned one for over a week now the feelings haven't change...purely and utterly petrified. I am glad my kids and Brett love him because this chica won't be going near him anytime soon.

No wonder my kids love hanging out with their dad because not only did they get a horse, but they had a blast on their Ranger ride and going out to dinner waaaay past their bedtime. Raylee, somehow, even convinced her dad to let her out of the house in her "princess" clothes...he definitely gets "best dad" award in their book.
I guess the horse just wasn't enough and we had to add to our ever-growing farm. My mom called the other day saying that she knew someone that was looking for a home for a kitten and she thought we could use an outdoor cat to keep our rodent population down...gross I know but there had to be some cons to living in the woods:) So, we are now the proud owners of a little calico kitten named, Elliot. We were told it was a boy, but I guess it's a girl which is just fine by Raylee because she has been refering to it as a girl and the poor kitten has now become one of her little stroller "dollies". I have decided that animals aren't so bad when you have lots of land for them. They aren't in my house, I don't deal with messes or hair and the kids love them, so I guess they are keepers. My next addition will be some chickens...love me some good cage-free, organic eggs:)
This is what playing on a farm will do to you...she was plum tuckered out!
